Charles
Bronson's character, Crego, is the definitive characterization of a cold
blooded vagrant serial killer. Crego shoots a drifter because he talks
to much. Crego likes to pick fights with those he knows he can outdraw
in a gun fight. He enjoys killing.
Dillon
knows this poisonous parasite must be exterminated. He sees, though,
no legal remedy. All of the gun fights are "fair". A moral
compromise is made by Dillon. He justifies a little wrong is an appropriate
ingredient to destroy an immense evil - but risks his life so that the
wrong he does is legally justified. Unknowingly, Chester and his loyalty
to the Marshal are crucial ingredients in Dillon's plan. The intensity
of Dillon's final confrontation with Crego dries the eyes. You're afraid
to blink.
Another
genius story by John Meston.
